In tribute of our beloved colleague, friend of the BSO, Osteopath and BSO board member among a long list of many other professional credentials, we dedicated a room at the BSO teaching centre after the irreplaceable John Lant. The naming ceremony, complete with drinks and nibbles, had present John’s wife, John’s five children and fellow BSO friends and colleagues. It was a joyous occasion with lots of laughter and fantastic memories of John shared amongst all in attendance. The highlight of the event included the unveiling of the plaque, aptly named ‘The John Lant Room’, outside room 2.09, complete with emotional speeches from John’s wife, Vicki, Principal Charles Hunt and BSO chairman David Barrett.
John’s many accomplishments included being the Chairman of the BSO board, CEO of the Osteopathic Association of Great Britain (OAGB), Privy Council Appointee of the first General Osteopathic Council, board member of the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, Chairman of the UK College of Mediators, chairman of CoastNet, Chairman of Resources & Finance Committee of Dentists', to name a few.
We hope that the naming of room 2.09, which was where John chaired many Board meetings, will be a reminder to all what a great and inspirational Osteopath, John was and that John’s room will serve as an inspiration to current and aspiring osteopaths – that you can achieve just about anything with effort, love of the profession and a warm personality. Here’s to the next generation of John Lants!
